Hellooooo to another edition of the Pigeon Post! We have a lot to cover, so let’s jump right in! 🥳
🎃 Spooky Season is here!
The Halloween Update is out now! Ten brand-new puzzles that are inspired by the spookiest time of the year. But not all of them are actually scary animals, so they only have names that fit Halloween well— like the Tasmanian Devil or African Death’s Head Hawkmoth. I also added a Black Persian cat to finally honour my late cat, Finn. 🖤
Special shout out to Rebecca! She replied to the last pigeon post and suggested that a squid should be added to the Halloween puzzle pack. Thanks to her, the vampire squid is now part of the game. I’m not showing it here, as I already scared the heck out of my designer with the drawing.
And sorry, Rebecca, that I couldn’t follow up on the request for spookier music yet, but rest assured that this will be added at one point in the future!
But before going into the future, we have two more topics from the past to cover.
🦎 Friends of Fauna in October
Last week saw the release of the October Friends of Fauna puzzle. It is based on a picture of a Fire Salamander by Andrea!
Why did I choose this? Well, as a kid, my cousins and I went into a nearby forest with our first camera. We made a short video clip that was called “Regenwetter, Salamanderwetter”, which translates to “Rainy Weather, Salamander Weather”. It consisted of some very bad camera shots of a fire salamander that was crawling in the mossy forest. This video engraved itself into my brain. Every time I hear the German term “Regenwetter”, I immediately think “Salamanderwetter”. So thanks, Andrea, for bringing up some of my childhood memories with this picture and thank you for reading through this 😬
The November puzzle is already locked in and is a special gift for all of you dog lovers. But speaking of gifting…
💶 Donations!
As you might know, 20% of all proceeds of Art of Fauna are donated to nature preservation organisations. Donations are made twice a year, beginning in June and December. Donations are split evenly between two selected organisations.
For the first batch, I did select Rettet den Regenwald and the Naturschutzbund Steiermark. And I’m happy to report that these organisations received €2200 each!
After doing the donation, the Naturschutzbund Steiermark reached out to me and told me what they did with the money. They told me, and I quote:
The Naturschutzbund Steiermark will purchase a small but beautiful patch of mountain forest covering 1,250 m² on the Wiedneralm/Gaberl at an altitude of approximately 1,400 meters. It is a steep mountain forest on a south-facing slope with large larch and spruce trees, a high proportion of old growth, tree hollows, and an abundance of moss and ferns—a real natural gem!
I used to live very close by the Gaberl, which makes it extra special for me. Here is one photo of the area that I took years ago:
Isn’t this amazing? A patch of forest saved just by your contributions! A huge thank you for making this possible! 👏 👏 👏
The next two organisations that will receive donations are Regenwald der Österreicher and the Coral Reef Alliance. I will keep you posted about these donations! But speaking of the future…
🔮 Let's take a look into the Future!
I have maaaaany things planned for the Art of Fauna and I won’t spoil everything today. But I want to give you a glimpse of a few things:
🧑🧒 Kids Mode
I was actually surprised at how many people reached out to me who want to play Art of Fauna with their little ones. Their wishes will finally be fulfilled with the kids’ mode, which will allow you to adjust the difficulty of the puzzles for kids of any age. More details in the next edition of this newsletter!
🧩 New Puzzles
The holidays are around the corner, and there will definitely be a special pack for this special season. But if everything works out, you will even get more puzzles before then. We will see… 👀
🌱 A botanical sequel
Maybe you already know, as I teased this multiple times on social media, and even mentioned it in an interview months ago. But I want to make it clear: There will be a botanically themed sequel to Art of Fauna. If everything goes to plan, it will be released in the first half of 2026. And you will get more info about it quite soon!
And that’s it again! Thank you very much for reading and your support! 💚
Enjoy the Halloween puzzles - I hope you won't get any nightmares from any of the drawings 🥹
Cheers,
Klemens
PS: As always, if you love The Art of Fauna, then please take a minute and leave a review on the App Store. This helps a lot with getting found by other people. Thanks! 💚
